Thank goodness I set up my first aid kit!
We just got back from a short camping trip with my family. My 11 year old was riding a scooter down the blacktop drive around the campground when the handle of the scooter came off and he lost control. He took a dive onto the pavement banging up his knee and elbow quite badly.
I was so thankful that I had brought my medicine cabinet with me. A few years ago I knew I had to bring a first aid kit with me camping but I didn’t like the first aid kits that were available. It seemed like I had to supplement so much in order to have the right things on hand. I also didn’t want to have to keep up two first aid kits supplied: one at home and one in the camper. I decided to put all my medicine and first aid supplies in drawers that could be easily transferred into the camper when we went camping. They stack on top of each other here in the closet and I put them inside a bench inside our camper trailer. That way I could be confident that the medicine was not expired and I had the right supplies on hand.
This weekend I used at least 8 4X4 gauze pads to clean the wounds, several bandaids, medical tape, lots of Neosporin and some Children’s Tylenol. I was so happy to have everything on hand. I don’t know about you but I have to have several kinds of pain relief meds on hand. Some of the kids like the chewables, some the liquid and I like capsules for my headaches. Having all the choices was wonderful!
